We have approximately an acre filled with seasonal vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, grape vines dotted around buildings and along with passionfruit vines climbing up the homestead fences and young olive trees. We have adopted the ethos that besides the natives we have planted to reduce water use that other trees planted in the gardens not only provide wind breaks but also provide fruit.
The ability to grow seasonal depends on the availability of water and sometimes we can only harvest some herbs and often smaller crops of fruit but they are all still useable and grown on site so we are reducing our carbon footprint.
Where we are unable to grow and harvest produce we source other producers locally through outlets and suppliers in the nearest city Broken Hill which is 56 kilometres away.
